Design manual completed
September 2011
Superunion Architects has completed a design manual for the retail and ground floor areas in the new development OperaKvarteret in Oslo. The document is one in a series of design manuals we are developing for Oslo S Utvikling (OSU).

The City Festival

Superunion Architects is together with Comte Analyse currently conducting a research study for the ØYA music festival in Oslo. The study aims to identify the advantages and challenges for the city festival and its future potential as an urban event.

Talk and debate

We will be giving a talk and join the panel of the event “Utfordrerfredag” at the Architecture Festival in Oslo on September 30. The main question for the event is “how important are the young architects for society?” More information about the Architecture Festival here

Rethink LA opening
August 2011
The Rethink LA exhibition opened Thursday August 4 at the A+D Museum in Los Angeles. Superunion Architects contributed to the exhibition as one of the teams that were invited to make visions for a future Los Angeles. The exhibition is open until September 4.

Superunion goes to Japan
May 2011
Superunion Architects receives travel and research grant from The Scandinavia-Japan Sasakawa Foundation. A visit to Japan will happen in fall 2011, and the research will focus on the metabolizing nature of Japanese cities and architecture, related to the recent natural disaster in the country.

Exhibition in Los Angeles

Superunion Architects is selected to contribute to the exhibition RETHINK LA at the Architecture and Design Museum in Los Angeles, August 4 - September 4, 2011.
"In response to the present global and local shifts, RETHINK LA set out to challenge designers, artists, planners and narrators throughout Los Angeles to imagine a city-in-transition. What will it look like? How will we live? How will we travel? Where are we going and how will we get there?"

Superunion in China
April 2011
Vilhelm Christensen is during April 9 - May 13 2011 in China, teaching graduate students from the Oslo School of Architecture (AHO). The theme for the studio is un-named design, and the work is taking place in Caochangdi, a village in Beijing. The output of the studio is part of the Gwangju Design Biennale 2011 in Korea, directed by artist and architect Ai Weiwei.

Opening of Stasjonsallmenningen

Stasjonsallmenningen in Operakvarteret was on April 9 officially opened. Superunion Architects made a prototype for the orientation signs in the area especially for the opening. Superunion Architects is also commissioned to make a design manual for signage in the whole area. Click to view the ongoing project.

Johanne Borthne is jury member in 120hours, an international competition for architecture students. The competition entries are exhibited at DogA in Oslo during April 9 - May 8, 2011.

Guest lecture

Vilhelm Christensen is giving a guest lecture at Oslo School of Architecture (AHO), November 18, 2010. The lecture is entitled "Masterplanning Beyond Urbanism" and discusses a tendency within urban planning that goes beyond the traditional urban problems.

Workshop in Copenhagen

Johanne Borthne is holding a workshop at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture in Copenhagen, together with BIG (DK) and Cord Siegel (SE) during October 2010. The theme for the workshop is sustainability beyond density in a scandinavian context.
